If you are looking for some top 10 recommendations for slice of life anime, then no need to go elsewhere. I have listed top 10 slice of life anime.

But first……

What is a slice of life?

Slice of life is a genre in anime, in which there is no main or central plot of anime. It focuses on the daily life of the characters. If I have to put it simply then I would say in this genre anime is not flashy, it is just pleasantly simple. Some people call this as “makes you feel good anime”. There are no fights(mostly) in this type of anime. This type of anime does not contain too much fantasy element. Slice of life anime is close to reality. Anime in this genre shows us the daily life experiences of the characters like love, friendship, challenges etc.

So let’s get to the list….

1.    Bakuman:




This is a story of a boy named Moritaka Mashiro who dreamed to become mangaka(manga artist), just like his uncle. But due to some tragic incident, he loses his hope. Now he is just trying to be salaryman.
But the fate turns the strange point, in his class, there is boy Akito Takagi who sees his drawing skill and tries to convince him to pursue his dream again. This is the point where the journey of two boys trying to become mangaka begins.



2.    March comes in like a lion:


This is a story of a boy named Rei Kiriyama who is a professional shogi player although he is a middle schooler. Due to this, he has to face pressure from his family as well as from his shogi community. He lives in adopted family. Due to some reasons, he decided to live in a separate apartment in Tokyo.
Not long after he moved to Tokyo, he met three sisters, living with their grandpa who runs the wagashi shop. This is the point where things get interesting.



3.    ReLIFE:



This is a story of 27 years old hopeless loser Arata Kaizak, who losses his one job after another. When day he meets Ryou Yoake, the member of reLIFE foundation, who offers him to change his life with the mysterious pill.
And guess what he takes the pill thinking somehow his life will be changed.
The next day when he woke up some mysterious thing has happened to him now he has become a 17year old boy.
Now he become the experimental subject for the reLIFE foundation. He has now to live with his younger self.
As he progresses, his life starts to take turns.    




4.    Barakamon:



 This is an anime about a man named Seishuu Handa who is a calligrapher. One day his award-winning piece labelled as unoriginal or copied, he loses his control with severe consequences.
As a punishment, his father sent him away to the Goto Island far from Tokyo and his comfortable life. And ordered him to use this time for his self-reflection.
Now he is away from Tokyo on Goto Island, where his neighbours cannot keep their mind to their own business but his.
Thanks to these wacky neighbours he starts to learn things that he didn’t learn before.  

5.    Usage drop:



 This anime is about a 30year old bachelor who is doing job otherwise his doing nothing with his life. One day, his grandfather passed, he returns to the family to pay his respects. There he met a mysterious young girl named Rin who happens to be his grandfather’s illegitimate daughter.
Everyone refuses to take care of her. Seeing their coldness, he announces that he is going to take care of her although he does not have any previous child care experience.
This is a sweet story about fatherhood of Daikichi.  
                          

 6.    The Royal Tutor:


 This anime is about a man named Heine Wittgenstein who is a famous professor despite the fact his height is short and he has a kid like structure. The King of Grannzreich called upon him to become the new royal tutor for his four princes who are in line for the throne. Princes has very distinct and troublesome personalities.
However, the dark and mysterious past of professor may threaten the harmony of the kingdom.


                     

7.    Classroom of the Elite:


Koudo Ikusei Senior High School is a utopia. The students enjoy an unparalleled amount of freedom, and it is ranked highly in Japan. However, the reality is less than ideal. Four classes, A through D, are ranked in order of merit, and only the top classes receive favourable treatment.

Kiyotaka Ayanokouji is a student of Class D, where the school dumps its worst. There he meets the unsociable Suzune Horikita, who believes she was placed in Class D by mistake and desires to climb to Class A, and the seemingly amicable class idol Kikyou Kushida, whose aim is to make as many friends as possible.

While class membership is permanent, class rankings are not; students in lower ranked classes can rise in rankings if they score better than those in the top ones. Additionally, in Class D, there are no bars on what methods can be used to get ahead.


                                               

8.    K-ON:


Hirasawa Yui is a carefree girl. Who is entering the high school, she sees the advertising poster of “Light Music Club”. She decides to join the club. Although she is incapable of playing any musical instrument. When she got in the club they become dishearted by the incapability of her to play any musical instrument.
Worries aside, they began practising along with their school homework. This is where the journey starts.




.  9.  Toradora:


This is a story of a boy named Ryuuji Takasu who is very gentle and he loves housework. But in contrast, he has a very intimidating face. On the other hand, Taiga Aisaka is a small doll-like girl who is anything but cute and fragile. Things get crazy when they reveal that taiga has a crush on the popular vice president who is the best friend of Ryuuji and Ryuuji reveals that he has a crush on a girl who happens to be the best friend of Taiga. 
  

                         


  10.  Hyouka:


This is a story about energy-conservative high school student Houtarou Oreki who ends up with more than he bargained for when he signs up for the Classics Club at his sister's behest—especially when he realizes how deep-rooted the club's history is. Begrudgingly, Oreki is dragged into an investigation concerning the 45-year-old mystery that surrounds the club room.

Accompanied by his fellow club members, the knowledgeable Satoshi Fukube, the stern but benign Mayaka Ibara, and the ever-curious Eru Chitanda, Oreki must combat deadlines and lack of information with resourcefulness and hidden talent, to not only find the truth buried beneath the dust of works created years before them, but of other small side cases as well.
